A newly remastered version of David Bowie's 1973 studio effort Aladdin Sane will be released on April 16 in celebration of the album's 40th anniversary.  The revamped collection will be available on CD and as a digital download.

Aladdin Sane was the follow-up to Bowie's landmark 1972 album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and featured such memorable tunes as "The Jean Genie" and "Panic in Detroit," as well as the legendary singer's offbeat version of The Rolling Stones' "Let's Spend the Night Together."  The record also was Bowie's last to feature his Spiders from Mars backing group -- guitarist Mick Ronson, bassist Trevor Bolder and drummer Mick "Woody" Woodmansey.

Bowie co-produced Aladdin Sane with Ken Scott, while the 40th anniversary edition was remastered by engineer Ray Staff, who also worked on the original album.  Aladdin Sane peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200 chart, and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1983.
