1964 - The governor of Indiana asked the radio stations of his state to stop playing the Kingsmen classic “Louie Louie” after declaring the song to be pornographic.

1969 - Joni Mitchell performed at Carnegie Hall for the first time.

1977 - Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant contracted tonsillitis, which forced the band to postpone their North American tour. The rescheduled dates were shifted to June, and would mark the legendary rock band’s last American concerts.

1992 - Nevermind, the pivotal album from Nirvana, made its way to No. 1 on the charts for a second time.
